Piano Tuning service in Hull, Beverley, Goole, Howden, Selby, York, Doncaster and Scunthorpe.
My name's Robin. Since studying piano tuning, restoration and repair at the esteemed Newark Piano School, I've dedicated myself to providing tuning and repair services in homes, venues, schools and universities throughout Yorkshire.
Please contact me using the messenger service below or dial 07516 034013 to arrange a tuning. If I'm at work or travelling I may not be able to answer your call so please leave a message or send a text and I will get back to you as soon as I possibly can.
This applies if your piano is very flat or hasn't been tuned for a long time.
In the event that your piano is not serviceable a call out fee would apply to cover time and fuel.
Many small repairs can be offered for free as part of a tuning appointment but I will always provide an estimate where an additional charge does apply. Below are some example prices for common repairs.
I use premium Röslau steel wire
The price of bass strings varies as they are bespoke. The £60 price shown is therefore an estimate.
Please reach me at robin@yorkshirepianotuning.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
The frequency at which a piano needs tuning can vary depending on several factors, including the piano's age, quality, environmental conditions, and usage. In general, most pianos benefit from regular tuning at least once or twice a year
A pitch raise, also known as a pitch correction or pitch adjustment, involves raising the pitch of all the strings of a piano to return it to standard pitch before a fine-tuning is performed. The purpose of a pitch raise is to correct a piano that has fallen significantly flat due to various factors such as changes in temperature and humidity, neglect, or a long period without tuning.
In some cases, such as in older pianos or pianos in poor condition, it may not be advisable to perform a pitch raise as the additional tension of the stings could lead to damage or make the piano unstable. In this instance I would simply tune the piano to itself and a standard fee of £75 would apply.
I offer my piano tuning services across a wide region, which includes the city of York in the north and extends down to the historic town of Selby. My service area also stretches westward to Wetherby and encompasses Beverley and the city of Hull in the east. In the southern part of my coverage, I include Doncaster, Scunthorpe, and the areas in between. So, whether you're situated in the heart of York or Selby, or anywhere within these regions, I am committed to providing expert care for your piano. If you reside just outside my service areas, please don't hesitate to reach out to me as I may be able to tie you in with other nearby appointments.
This really depends on the condition of the instrument but I normally expect an appointment to last between one to two hours.
Yes, it is likely your piano will need to be tuned after it has been moved to a new location. Where possible I advise waiting a week or two to give the instrument some time to acclimatise to its new environment.
I accept cash, BACS or cheques.
